We are Beverly and Michael Wilkinson, we live
on beautiful Vancouver Island in the province of British Columbia,
Canada.
In 1980 we moved to Vancouver Island and built our home. I had
always wanted a dog, so we acquired our first dog...an English
Setter. Am/Can Ch Colthouse Carpet Knight came to live out his
retirement with us. It turned out that an English Setter wasn't
the breed for us. He was very sweet, just a little too needy.
So, I began my search for the perfect dog and we
purchased our first Akita. Owning Cato showed us we had found our
breed. She went on to obtain her championship at 9 months of age
and also obtained her CD to become Ch Matsutake's Suki-Fujin C.D.
Her obedience title was completed in 3 consecutive trials with high
qualifying scores.
That was the start of a lifetime love affair with
this majestic breed. We are very proud to have produced numerous
Canadian and American Champions, Best in Show, Best in Specialty Show,
Best Puppy in Show and ROM producers. We bred and co-owned a beautiful
male puppy with our good friend Marianne Southall, this boy went on to
become an all breed Best In Show winner, Best in Specialy Show winner
and twice won an Award of Merit at the American National
Specialty. This very special dog was BIS/BISS Am/Can Ch Kawakami's
Czar Nicholas AOM.
The American National Specialty held every year
is the showcase for breeders throughout North America. We have had
great success at this prestigious event, winning Award of Merits,
Winners Dog, Winners Bitch, Veteran Bitch, Breeders Cup award and Best
Stud dog with our offspring. While these wins are very special,
also dear to our hearts are the many wonderful families that we have
known over the years through the pets we have placed with them.
Over the many years we have met so many wonderful
people from all over the world and formed lasting friendships.
Most of our closest friendships where formed through dog
connections. This is part of the dog world that we truly treasure.
